About me

After spending over six years in Japan, I left everything behind to settle down in Vancouver. I could list all the reasons that led me to make this decision, but I’m afraid it would be off topic.

I landed in Vancouver in the midst of the pandemic with my ‘common-law’ partner, two suitcases, very little knowledge about Canada, and Bon Appétit Tokyo!, a culinary blog that I started while living in Japan. Although I could have buried it away after my relocation, I decided to give it a fresh start under the name Bon Appétit Vancouver!.

About my articles

In this blog, I write reviews about the restaurants where I have dined in the Vancouver area.

What you can expect:

  • Restaurant recommendations for different types of cuisine in Vancouver and its surroundings
  • Unbiased and honest reviews. My articles are not affiliated and I pay entirely for all my meals. Each article reflects my own opinion about places that I have personally tried
  • Pictures that are as close as possible to reality. I slightly touch them up to improve their sharpness, but I do not modify them. Besides, all the pictures are taken by me and are therefore subject to copyrights

What you shouldn’t expect:

  • Reviews of big restaurant chains or places that I haven’t tried myself
  • Recipes, products or brand endorsement…
  • Restaurant booking services (you will find all the information you need at the bottom of each article to book a table yourself)
  • The latest Instagram craze. I am not interested in visually striking dishes that translate into poor dining experiences
About the notation system

I rate all the places where I go from 1 to 5 stars — 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest score. The notes that I give are purely subjective. I am not a food critic, just a food lover who likes to share her opinion. My notes are based on my personal experience.

When I rate a place, I obviously take into consideration the quality of the food, but I also pay attention to the atmosphere, the service, the size of the portions and the value for money. That is why some small eateries can sometimes end up being better rated than Michelin restaurants. I am all about the experience!

Bon Appétit Vancouver!
