Maison de La Bourgogne is a French restaurant located in one of Kagurazaka’s backstreets. As its name suggests, it specializes in cuisine from Burgundy, a region located in east-central France.

Maison de La Bourgogne features a nice terrace and the atmosphere is rather casual so it is a very nice spot if you want to have a relaxed meal with some friends.
It has three lunch menus available on weekends, and I tried the cheapest one that features a starter, a main and a dessert for 2,700 yen. It is not cheap but this is an average price in the area.

Terrine de Poulet, Olives et basilic (Chicken Terrine, Olives and Basil)
I started off with the terrine. It was very simple, but the olives and basil added nice flavors to the dish. I liked that it came with bread, but one slice was not quite enough for the full terrine.

Bisque, St Jacques et crevettes (Bisque, Scallops and Prawns)
For the main, I had the Bisque and it turned out to be a great choice. The soup was very creamy and rich, and it went very well with the scallops, prawns and mussels. The portion was a bit small but the potato purée gave it just enough substance.

Mousse au chocolat (Chocolate Mousse)
Dessert was a no-brainer. I went with the Chocolate Mousse and it tasted as good as it looked. The mousse was light, and the layers of white chocolate kept each bite well-balanced yet delicious.
If you are looking for a casual, not too expensive French restaurant, Maison de La Bourgogne is a good candidate. Portions are a bit small, but the food tastes good and the staff is friendly. I would definitely go back if I have the chance!
