I randomly stumbled across Picnic Too while walking downtown Victoria the other day. It was a sunny day and I was hungry so I didn’t think twice and snatched their last open patio seats.

Picnic Too is an unpretentious casual eatery. It did not blow my mind but it turned out to be a rather good surprise.

The Macro Bowl ($13.5)

When I want to be healthy, I usually go for salads. But let’s be real, between the usual Green, Cobb and Caesar salads, it can be hard to get excited at times. And what’s the point of eating out if it doesn’t feel like a treat?

Well, I was pleasantly surprised with Picnic Too‘s The Macro Bowl. The bowl changes monthly and it is filled with super healthy and tasty ingredients. I had the July bowl which featured Mexi pickled carrots, roasted yams, quinoa, kale, black beans, feta, pineapple, and more. It was simply delicious and definitely more substantial than a salad!

The Breakfast Sandwich ($8)

My boyfriend was not super hungry so he went with their light Breakfast Sandwich. It was definitely small and simple, but it was enjoyable and did the trick. Oh! And they can make this sandwich vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free so whatever your diet is, you are covered!

Overall

If you want to grab a quick bite downtown, Picnic Too is a nice coffee shop for all-day brunch. They have several healthy items other than salads, so if you want to treat yourself with tasty food, it is a nice place.

However, if you’re looking for a place where you can really sit down and take time to enjoy your meal, I would recommend Nourish Kitchen in the bay area instead. They also have a lot of healthy dishes and the atmosphere is more relaxing.
